1. Introduction of Summer Program

       JHSSCNU is coordinating and programming summer curriculum with the York Region District School Board on a yearly basis. Summer program provides an opportunity for students to have the western academic experience near home and it also an opportunity for the student outside our school to experience the school life in JHSSCNU, get a chance to know more about our school program, and our teachers. It aims to improve the students’English communication skills, independent living, and manipulative abilities, the summer program is designed with classes through games, outdoor activities, helping students with a multicultural integration understanding. Playing while learning.

2. Target students

       1. Freshmen of the AJHSSCNU;

       2. Students at the AJHSSCNU;

       3. Off-campus students who meet the age requirement;

3. Participate in AJHSSCNU summer program

       1. Oral English proficiency: enable students to systematic experience natural English expression and academic English, before entering Junior High School; cultivating students' interests in English learning and improving their self expression in English;

       2. The program of student self expression in western and Chinese education systems at the basic stage, the  biggest difference between western and Chinese education is to encourage autonomous learning, students will inculcate these values as soon as possible to adapt to the junior high school life;

       3. Developing multicultural understanding and independent living ability: students will through contact with the culture of different countries, will develop the ability of multicultural understanding and independent life, these are essential for the students when they coming for the new semester and future development; 

       4. Students are exposed to learning the outside of the normal routine, attending the program will have the opportunity to contact more knowledge outside the classroom, for example: science (STEM) experiment, stage performance, speech and eloquence, ballroom dancing, the mini Olympic Games, sailing lessons, etc;

       5. Enjoy the summer vacation: the foreign teachers teaching while having fun with the students and students learning while having fun during the summer;

       6. To adapt to the new school year in advance and get to know friends: we hope that all of the students, especially freshmen, can experience the school ahead of time, become familiar with the teachers and students, make new friends, finish the transition from primary school to junior high school stage smoothly.

       7. Reference standard for outstanding student scholarship: the summer courses will select outstanding students to give scholarships every year. And give the opportunity to bypass the interview into Chinese junior high school; The performer will participate in various international activities on behalf of our school, such as the simulation of the United Nations competition, the communication between China and the United States, etc.
